South America is centred around the Amazon rainforest. The most biodiverse rainforest in the world. It has been influenced mainly by Spanish and Portuguese colonists with a blend of native culture.The largest country Brazil is known for its luscious beaches and ethnic diversity. The Pantanal is considered the best region for spotting wildlife. As you travel west of Brazil you enter old Inca territory. Ancient cities such as Machu Picchu can be accessed by walking or train and is a great area to experience culture. Travelling south through the Andes mountains you can experience a very varied landscape from dry deserts to accessible snow-capped mountains.
