North & Central AmericaThe Americas are separated by the Panama Canal in the south, and the north is generally considered to include the Caribbean islands. Since the 1500’s North America has been highly influenced by European culture, yet at the same time developing their own unique blend of culture not found outside the continent. The United States is well known for being the largest economy in the world, holding 33% of the world wealth and a third of global military spending, giving it the status of a global superpower. This is not to say that the other countries are less worth visiting. Canada has some of the best skiing in the world with multicultural cities giving Canada its own sense of identity.
Central America and the Caribbean are more traditional, offering luxury beach holidays and relics of Ancient Mayan civilisation. |
