CAMBODIA

Angkor Wat
Overshadowed by a horrific civil war in the late 70’s, Cambodia is recovering and developing. Eco-tourism is big, and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
Best time to visit
November - April

What can I do?

See kampot pepper being grown (and try some fresh off the plants) at one of the famous pepper farms in Kampot
Eat blue crabs in Kep
See freshwater (Irawaddy) dolphins in Kratie
Relax on the ‘next big thing’ - the islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Salmon
Battambang - ride the original bamboo norry trains, see the bat caves, eat street food, rat from the rice paddies
Fill up on delicious (and cheap) street food, including some unusual additions that became necessities during the war, like grilled rat

Vertical Divider
Go hiking in the Cameron Highlands
Phnom Penh - visit the museums and memorials of the all-too-recent civil war — S21, Killing Fields, as well as a myriad of other sights including Wat Phnom, Russian market, the Royal Palace, Independence Monument, and National Museum
Shop ethically and locally in a range of stores across the country
Angor Wat - the world’s largest religious building
Tonle Sap - the largest freshwater lake in Asia
